Motorcyclist seriously injured on residential El Cajon road
Police said the rider was speeding on Valley Lake Drive, an offshoot of Fanita Drive, when he struck a parked commercial truck and was badly injured around 8:20 p.m.
A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Monday night when he crashed into a parked commercial truck while speeding down a residential street in El Cajon, police said.
The rider was speeding east on Valley Lake Drive, a dead-end street east of Fanita Drive, when he struck the large commercial truck around 8:20 p.m., El Cajon police Lt. Jeremiah Larson said.
He suffered “significant injuries” and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was in the operating room Monday night, Larson said. The exact nature and severity of his injuries was not immediately known.
Investigators did not know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, but Larson said speed was a factor.
Valley Lake Drive remained closed between Lakewind Street and Valley Mill Road after 10 p.m., Larson said. It was expected to be reopened later Monday night.
